Lyn and I have participated in many workshops through out the year and it has given us pause for thought.
Our goal is to build our program around the interests of the children. We have always ascribed to the value of play and learning through play while introducing a variety of concepts to the children.
This year we have decided to change our focus somewhat from themes, especially around the holidays, and base our curriculum on the four seasons. incorporating colours, shapes, and phonics with the changing seasons. An example would be emphasizing more on pumpkins, the colour orange and circles rather than jack-o-lanterns and Halloween.
We are looking forward to a new and exciting year with our new children and returning students!
Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul——Froebel
